VNC solaris HOWTO


                                                VNC is a remote control software which lets you see and interact with desktop applications across the network.
[*]install VNC from www.blastwave.org sudo pkg-get install vncserver
sudo pkg-get install vncviewer
[*]Change fontpath to match solaris configurationcat /opt/csw/bin/vncserver.diff
--- $fontPath = "tcp/localhost:7100";
+++ #$fontPath = "tcp/localhost:7100";
---#$fontPath = "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi";
+++$fontPath = "/usr/lib/X11/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/lib/X11/X11/fonts/75dpi";[*]Add the path of the command "xrdb" to your environment PATHexporth PATH=/usr/openwin/bin:$PATH
[*]Startup gnome-session when start VNC servercat ~/.vnc/xstartup
---/usr/openwin/bin/twm &
+++#/usr/openwin/bin/twn &
+++/usr/bin/gnome-session &
[*]Now it's time to start VNC servervncserver
New 'X' desktop is aubrey-lab:1
Starting application specified in /export/home/aubrey/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /export/home/aubrey/.vnc/aubrey-lab:1.log
[*]And It can be killed by the following commandvncserver -kill :1
[*]OK, you can connect this server by vncviewer on another machine, enter VNC server as "aubrey-lab:1", after password is checked successfully, you'll see the gnome desktop of the server.
