Who know the "updatedb"?
It's auto run on my computer every day,and I have to kill it manually.It's noisy,but dose it have some important function?or how can I stop it forever!!!???thanks

通过crond每天执行, 目的是收集系统中目录和文件信息,更新数据库,
可以通过 locate filename 查询某个特定的文件所在的位置. 同whereis 和which. 不过它显示的是与filename匹配的所有绝对路径记录.

如果不需要，可以到/etc/cron.d/里找到对应的脚本，把他move到别处

vi /etc/cron.d/ nothing,
then /etc/cron.daily/
mv slocate /tmp
is that right?

That will do, but since the slocate may be some kind of useful,
so move it to /etc/cron.monthly should be a better idea.
