机器是compaq alpha workstation xp1000，os是freebsd 4.7 release，使用x-user安装，然后安装了kde。

应用安装了apache1.3.27和proftpd1.2.6，使用的是从freebsdchina.org下载的binary文件安装。

下载mysql-3.23.52_1.tgz,mysql-client-3.23.52,p5-Data-showTable-3.3,p5-DBI-1.28.p5-Mysql-modules-1.2216后，pkg_add 安装，报错无法安装grant表，mysqld core dump，查找mysql的帮助，发现这个错误与帮助中所说的有出入，在/var/db/mysql中只发现了一个mysqlcoredump文件和mysql.test两个空目录。

改用port安装，编译libltdl时，出现ltconfig:unrecongnized option --disable-ltlibs，怎么解决?

用binary不可能失败，又不用编译的，库也不会少。

我在vmware下安装的freebsd4.6.2release上安装正确，host主机为
intel pIII500 512M memory

在alpha workstation下错误信息如下:
  1. Preparing db table
  2. Preparing host table
  3. Preparing user table
  4. Preparing func table
  5. Preparing tables_priv table
  6. Preparing columns_priv table
  7. Installing all prepared tables
  8. Abort trap (core dumped)
  9. Installation of grant tables failed!

  11. Examine the logs in /var/db/mysql for more information.  <<--没有log
  12. You can also try to start the mysqld daemon with:
  13. /usr/local/libexec/mysqld --skip-grant &
  14. You can use the command line tool
  15. /usr/local/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql
  16. database and look at the grant tables:

  18. shell>; /usr/local/bin/mysql -u root mysql
  19. mysql>; show tables

  21. Try 'mysqld --help' if you have problems with paths. Using --log
  22. gives you a log in /var/db/mysql that may be helpful.

你这是2进址包吗？2进制包解开就能用的，只要改一下目录的权限加一下用户就行了。

这个包来源与ftp://ftp.freebsdchina.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/alpha/packages-4.7-release/All/mysql-server-3.23.59_1.tgz

这个是binary的，是freebsd的package方式，使用pkg_add安装。你所所的2进制方式是指？

单独使用mysql_install_db初始化数据库也报同样的错。
