Discovery Methods
In the details pane, click a discovery method, select Properties on the Action menu (or right-click the discovery method and select Properties), and then select the Enable <discovery method> check box.

Both the discovery of site systems and the creation of discovery data records (DDRs) during inventory are always enabled and do not have any configuration options. You cannot administer them. Resources are discovered by using these methods whenever appropriate.
Using Network Discovery increases the amount of traffic on your network. If you enable Network Discovery without first planning and configuring it, you risk creating a significant network load that can hinder production use of network services. For planning and configuring information, see Chapter 10, \"Planning Your SMS Deployment and Configuration.\"

During Network Discovery, the operating systems for all computers that are running Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Millennium Edition are displayed as Windows 9x in the SMS Administrator console because they all report the same operating system version through LAN Manager. However, after you install computers running Windows 98 as SMS clients, their operating system is displayed correctly.
Even though Network Discovery gathers data about resources in domains, a DDR is created only for each device within the discovery scope that has an IP address.

Active Directory Discovery Methods在SMS管理员控制台中的Discovery Methods
项目的Active Directory System Discovery、Active Directory User Discovery和Active Directory System Group Discovery Properties对话框,用户可以配置三种类型的Active Directory Discovery。
用户必须为可用的Active Directory Discovery 方法指定至少一个Active Directory 容器。用户在Polling Schedule
页上指定运行的时间表。用户创建的时间表指定了Active Directory发现方法何时轮询最近的Active Directory资源以发现用户指定容器中的系统、用户或系统组。如果用户没有在Polling Schedule页为每个发现方法选择Run discovery as soon as possible,在下次预定发现之前不会发现资源。
