See Processor and Software Requirements Matrix for minimum Solaris OS and XCP firmware requirements when using 2.66GHz SPARC64 VII+ processors in an M5000 server
The SPARC64 VII+ processor expands the capacity of L2 cache memory to 11MB
The SPARC64 VII+ processor-based CPU Modules installed in M5000 servers with enhanced motherboard (MOBO_B) are able to use the full 11MB of L2 cache
The SPARC64 VII+ processor-based CPU Modules installed in M5000 servers without enhanced motherboard (MOBO_A) are only able to use 5.5MB of L2 cache
Mixing of SPARC64 VII+, SPARC64 VII and SPARC64 VI processor-based CPU Modules within an M5000 server is supported
The SPARC64 VII+ processor's 11MB of L2 cache will only be seen as 5.5MB of L2 cache if any SPARC64 VII or SPARC64 VI processor-based CPU Modules are installed in the same system with the SPARC64 VII+ processor-based CPU Modules
All populated processors within the system must be SPARC64 VII+ to utilize the processor's 11MB of L2 cache, regardless of if the CPU Module is in uni or quad mode
Existing M5000 servers without enhanced motherboard (MOBO_A) can be upgraded to new motherboard to support SPARC64 VII+/11MB cache by ordering the (PTO) Motherboard Upgrade Kit (SELX4001Z)
All populated processors within the system must be SPARC64 VII+ to utilize the processor's 11MB of L2 cache, regardless of if the CPU Module is in uni or quad mode
There are no (ATO or PTO) part numbers available for just processors, processors are only available as part of CPU Module options
(1) COD license (SELX9RU1Z-N / SELX9RU1Z) would be needed to turn on each non-active COD processor
A Temporary Capacity On Demand (T-COD) program is not available for M5000 servers
