因为想尝试 mate-terminal，所以用过几天。感觉挺清爽的。

不过后来回归到 xterm，所以就没再继续使用了。

话说我想起一个有关 ports 的问题。

为什么 chinese german japanese 等等，有关语言的  port 是放在 ports 的根目录下？和其它的软件并列，不觉得很奇怪吗？应该建一个专门的 language port 来包括它们吧？

Mate 1.6 進 ports 的 SVN Log 資訊
  1. Say hello to Mate 1.6.

  3. Mate is a lite desktop forked from gnome2.

  5. Most of the work is done by Jeremy Messenger (mezz@). The only thing I did
  6. was update a few ports to later 1.6 release and attempting to keep up with
  7. ports infra changes. Resulting bugs are all mine.

  9. Mate is a sort of replacement for Gnome 2. So people wanting to keep a
  10. Gnome 2 like desktop should switch. Gnome 2 will be replaced by Gnome 3
  11. in the near future. This switch will be announce with a transition time
  12. so people have more time to switch if they haven't already.

  14. This release was made possible by everyone that send friendly pokes to
  15. keep mate on my mind.

以上預告 gnome 3 即將進 ports 取代 gnome2，未來 FreeBSD ports 只提供 Mate 和 GNOME3

自行編譯順利完成，原來是 Mate 1.6.1 版本，
熟悉的 GNOME 2 風格，
在中古的 AMD Phenom II 3核 N830 與 8GB 內存筆电上執行暢順。
繁體中文介面完備。

右上角表示 Mate 1.6.1 的天氣報告 applet 運作正常。而 mplayer 配合 ATI UMS 配合舊 libGL (Mesa 7.6.1) 後台播視信也運行暢順。

昨晚装了mate-base，用clang编译的，一切正常。

但是在试图编译 mate-applet  的时候，发现要额外安装 gcc-4.6.4，只好作罢

dragonfly bsd 编译成功，但是跑不起来，报(mate-settings-da), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

请问你的 dragonfly bsd 是在虚拟机里安装的，还是在真实机器上，能告知牌子和型号吗，谢谢。

实机，刚拿来玩的，HP 8100 Elite 入门塔式服务器，i5 650的cpu，看3.6发布了装的.

谢谢，dragonfly 的硬件兼容性看起来比我想象的要宽啊，回头在我的笔记本上也试试。
