Here is waht you need to do:

1. Edit your vncservers file as follow:

VNCSERVERS=”1:user1  2:user2”

Login as each user and create .vnc directory in its home directory. Type vncpasswd and provide your password

As root, restart vnc service

Now user1 should be able to access the server at port 5901 and user2 at port 5903.

You may also want to change $HOME/.vnc/xstartop for the GUI.

I am not even aware of the existence of -alwaysshared option and I never used it. However I could always login as different users simultaneously. If you tried my suggestion, user1 should be able to vnc to server_ip:5901 while at the same time user2 should be able to vnc to server_ip:5902

Check guest's and test's $HOME/.vnc/xstartup file. Comment out everything and add:

gnome-session &

See whether that works or not
