Oracle Engineers Instructions
The following steps will be required for EACH Exadata machine.
A. Remotely procedures:
Step 1. Ask customers provide a bridged system as a shared shell machine and allow you remotely use the shared shell connection from Internet to access customer’s Exadata’s system.
1.1. Access customer’s bridged system from Internet.
Use the shared shell connection to access the bridged system as a shared shell user.
Step 2. Check /SP system_identifier is correctly set.
2.1. Verify that the Rack Master Serial Number is set correctly.
Login into the first DB node db01 system as user root from the bridged system.
cd /opt/oracle.SupportTools/firstconf
(following dcli command on one line, no break):
[root@db01 firstconf]# dcli -l root -g half "ipmitool sunoem cli
'show /SP system_identifier' " > /tmp/show-rack-csn.out
[root@db01 firstconf]# more /tmp/show-rack-csn.out
Note:
The value “half” for the -g option refers to a text file that contains the list of all servers. An appropriate file name (i.e. if the file has already been renamed)will need to be specified. If this does not exist in /opt/oracle.SupportTools/firstconf then create an appropriate file for the system. An example of the file “half”:
db01
db02
db03
……
2.2. You will see the following expected output from the above command.
For X2-2 racks expect to see output similar to:
192.168.1.11: Connected. Use ^D to exit.
192.168.1.11: -> show /SP system_identifier
/SP
Properties:
system_identifier = Exadata Database Machine X2-2 1033AK213A
192.168.1.11: -> Session closed
192.168.1.11: Disconnected
...Output for the rest of the units is truncated for brevity...
192.168.1.1: Connected. Use ^D to exit.
192.168.1.1: -> show /SP system_identifier
/SP
system_identifier = Exadata Database Machine X2-2 1033AK213A
192.168.1.1: -> Session closed
192.168.1.1: Disconnected
[root@db01 firstconf]#
For X2-8 racks the system_identifier will be of the form
….
….
Properties:
system_identifier = Exadata Database Machine X2-8 1033AK21C0
…..
…..
2.3. Verify the serial number (in red circles) in the above output is the same as the serial number on the rack.
Step 3. Collect the output of CheckHWnFWProfile –S script from all DB Nodes and Cells.
3.1. Login into the first DB node db01 system as user root from the bridged system.
3.2. Use dcli to collect the output of the CheckHWnFWProfile script
cd /opt/oracle.SupportTools/firstconf
dcli –l root –g half “/opt/oracle.SupportTools/CheckHWnFWProfile –S” > /tmp/<output
Serial no
Exadata machine type
filename>.txt
Note:
a.The value “half” for the -g option refers to a text file that contains the list of all servers. An appropriate file name (i.e. if the file has already been renamed)will need to be specified. If this does not exist in /opt/oracle.SupportTools/firstconf then create an appropriate file for the system. An example of the file “half”:
db01
db02
db03
……
b. Recommendation of <output filename>.
It is recommended to name the output file as machine type “-“ serial no (machine type and serial no are from step 1 display output), e.g. X2-2-1033AK213A.txt.
Leave the file(s) in uncompressed text format.
3.3. To save the output files to customer’s local desktop for e-mail to you.
Two methods -
(1) Use FTP command. Pre-requisite – customers have a FTP Server.
a. On db01 system, use ftp command to transfer the file to customer’s ftp Server
b. Ask customers to copy the file to their local desktop
(2) Use SCP tool if customers do not have a FTP Server.
a. Ask customers to download SCP tool to their Window PC from http://winscp.net/eng/download.php and install.
b. Connect Window PC to db01 system.
c. Run SCP command from Window PC to transfer the files from db01 system to customer’s local desktop directly.
Step 4. Collect the part number of the PDUs installed in the rack and you should confirm the part number with customers over the phone.
4.1. Take note of the PDU part number installed in each rack when contacting with customers over the phone.
There are 2 AC power distribution rails installed in the rear of each Exadata rack.
The part number of the PDU is located beside the LCD display on each PDU.
PDU options are:
371-3995 -> 15KVA Three-Phase PDU, North America
371-4000 -> 15KVA Three-Phase PDU, International
371-4976 -> 15KVA Three-Phase PDU, International
371-4510 -> 24KVA Three-Phase PDU, North America
371-4001 -> 24KVA Three-Phase PDU, International
371-4977 -> 24KVA Three-Phase PDU, International
371-4199 -> 15KVA Single-Phase PDU, North America
371-4201 -> 15KVA Single-Phase PDU, International
371-5040 -> 22KVA Single-Phase PDU, HV
371-5039 -> 22KVA Single-Phase PDU, LV
Step 5. Ask customers e-mail information to you.
5.1. Ask customers to create an email with title “<Customer Name> - Exadata Configuration Snapshot”.
5.2. Ask customers to attached the output file(s) from step 3 to e-mail.
5.3. Send this e-mail to you(xxx.xxx@oracle.com) .
Step 6. Upload the requested information.
From the web page at -
http://thunder.au.oracle.com/cgi-bin/exaAuditFileUpload.cgi
Enter your email address.
Enter the rack serial number.
Choose the model type of the rack.
Choose the rack configuration type.
Enter the customer name.
Select browse an select the file containing the CheckHWnFWProfile -S output.
The file should be in uncompressed text format.
Select the correct rack PDU type installed.
From the pulldown select the correct GEO/City where the system is installed.
Select “Upload File” to complete.
B. On-site procedures:
Step 1. Check /SP system_identifier is correctly set.
1.1. Verify that the Rack Master Serial Number is set correctly.
Login into the first DB node db01 system as user root.
cd /opt/oracle.SupportTools/firstconf

    oracle的支持/销售 应该会提供相关硬件配置清单的吧,请向他们联系。

     对于X2-8, X2-2 等配置和full/half/quarter 有不同的Data Sheet.
