vmware4.0.0-4460下安装vmware tools问题

我在ADV 2000下装了vmware4,在vmware里面装了rh9,但在rh9下不能安装vmware tools,我找了这方面的资料但都是低于4.0版的,按照里面去做也无法成功.至今都无法进X郁闷啊~~~(我在rh7.2下可以),请大家帮帮~~~

安装vmware tools,vmware4跟以前的版本也没有区别啊？

编译到一半时提示没有该目录,可惜我没有把图抓下来,过二天再抓下来给你们看看是什么回事的.

It is very important that you install VMware Tools in the guest operating system.

Although VMware Workstation will run a guest operating system without VMware Tools, the graphics environment within the virtual machine will be limited to VGA mode graphics (640x480, 16 color).

With the VMware Tools SVGA driver installed, Workstation supports up to 32-bit displays and high display resolution, with significantly faster overall graphics performance. Other tools in the package make it more convenient to use your virtual machine.

Installation files for VMware Tools for Linux and Windows guest operating systems are built into Workstation (choose Settings >; VMware Tools Install from the application window). In Windows guests, there are VMware Tools for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000 guest operating systems.

Note to Users of Previous Versions
VMware Tools installers for Windows and Linux guests are built into the Workstation installation file now. This means you install VMware Tools in a way that's different from what you might expect, based on your experience with earlier versions of the product. The simplest way to cope with this change is to trust us and follow the step-by-step directions below. But we know you're curious. If you like, you're welcome to take a detour to this behind-the-scenes explanation of the changes.

Install VMware Tools in the Guest Operating System

VMware Tools for Linux

1.Power on the virtual machine.

2.Prepare your virtual machine to install VMware Tools.
Choose Settings >; VMware Tools Install. A message appears, informing you that the virtual machine has been reconfigured.

If you decide not to proceed with the installation of VMware Tools, you can cancel the operation.
Choose Settings >; Cancel VMware Tools Install.

3.The remaining steps all take place inside the virtual machine.

In a terminal, become root.
su

Mount the VMware Tools virtual floppy drive /dev/fd0 and copy its contents to /tmp. (You do not use an actual floppy disk in this step.)
cd /
mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt
cp /mnt/vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz /tmp

Untar the VMware Tools tar file in /tmp and install it.
cd /tmp
tar zxf vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz
cd vmware-linux-tools
./install.pl
(关键的差别可能在这，我就用vmware workstation 4.0 装过redhat linux 9.0，但是没有install.pl这个文件，其实您仔细看一下，可以看到另一个文件，名为vmware-install.pl（可能是这个，反正类似的）执行它，就ok.)
Start X and your graphical environment if they are not started yet.

Launch the VMware Tools control panel in the background.
vmware-toolbox &

You may run the VMware Tools control panel in the background as root or as a normal user. VMware Tools has additional capabilities if you run it as root.
建议：要用linux就不要那么“伪劣”的用vmware，实际上windows能做的linux同样能作，而且做的更好，而windows不能做的很多linux也能作。最起码双启动

allen说的有点道理,不过有时候为了连网做实验也是有点作用的,双系统是性能不错,就是一次只能打开一个系统有时候不太方便.我在做DNS实验的时候就是用VMWARE做的,效果还行的
