新手求助，无法显示图形界面

专门为学linux搞来一台垃圾laptop, presario 1200 内存64m , 集成显卡trident cyberblade，放入redhat9安装盘就黑屏，只能进入text模式，当然装好后仍不能显示GUI，怀疑我的12寸屏不支持，但是外接17寸CRT还是黑屏，
我reinstall数次，尝试修改/etc/X11/XF86Config的水平垂直频率不成功，上网搜索发现这篇文章http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/01/07/forcing_linux_on_a_crap/

How wrong I was. First off, it was impossible to run X by selecting my actual video adapter, a crap item by Trident called the "CyberBlade" (a bit like naming a toy poodle "Ripper" -- fine so long as the irony is intentended).

After various attempts at making it work I finally had to load a generic VGA adapter, which compromised my lame machine's performance even more than Compaq intended. And once Mandrake was installed I had to wrestle with the Winmodem, which turned out not so bad in the end.

于是再次format，安装时选了generic VGA驱动，startx还是黑屏，黑屏！

如今我只能用文字界面，请高手指点，谢谢
