PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Apache Project
The Apache web server is the most widely deployed web server on the internet today. It is an open source project with nearly 800 developers world wide. XX is part of the development community, contributing fixes, enhancements and integrating Apache with the different HP-UX platforms - 11.0, 11.i, 11.23.
The software developer would be part of the XX Apache team that delivers the Apache web server suite on HP-UX. Strong team working skills and English communication skills are required since the engineer will be working with people globally – partners inside XX, customers of XX, and the open source community. Strong experience in c and other scripting languages is required. Familiarity with open source development and tools is highly recommended.
Expertise in at least one of the following areas:
1. Apache core development – experience working with Apache web server open source code
2. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) – have intimate experience working with SSL, preferably OpenSSL implementation of SSL.
3. PHP - familiarity with this HTML embedded scripting language
4. Java – JServ, Tomcat experience
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
degree in Computer Science or related majors
at least 3 years software development experience
2 years of software development in c or c++
excellent English communication skill, both verbal and written
ability to learn new concepts and technologies quickly
must have one of the four expertise listed above
Recommended:
knowledgeable of makefiles
experience with scripting languages (i.e. PHP, perl, python, ruby)
experience with open source development and tools
experience with source control such as CVS or ClearCase)
familiarity with LDAP, webmin
