1.Senior Test Engineer
Role
Provide technical level expertise at CM (Contract Manufacturer) in China in product Introduction and sustaining support resolving technical issues locally where possible. While mostly based at the CM it will also require some travel to US or Europe in transitioning products. Escalating major issues and working with the various support groups, GAME (Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering), Hardware Engineering, Diagnostics Eng, Supply Base Management Technical etc, These issues can be product, equipment, code or process related.
• Work with CM’s to empower the local Engineers to be able to handle all debug related issues locally. Work with the CM where they need EMC assistance on issues. Escalate any issues that need support to the various Engineering and Support groups in EMC.
• Feedback on process and procedure changes that are required of EMC providing the necessary detail and working with the relevant groups to see the changes are implemented.
• New Product Introduction. Spend time working with GAME on new products :- * Become very strong with the functionality of the product. * Ensure that the product, processes and procedures are ready for transfer to the CM. * Where applicable involve CM engineers also at this stage.
• Product Transition. Move with the product as it transfers to the CM. Spend a considerable amount of time at the CM until the product is stable and most issues can now be handled by the CM. A significant role here being knowledge transfer to the CM Test Engineering groups.
Knowledge:- the following are the areas where experience is desirable. Candidates should have knowledge in at least some of these areas with the desire to work in such areas. Product specific training will be provided.
• Disk based Storage Products and their test processes.
• PCBA (Printed Circuit Board assembly)
• An understanding of Operating Systems.
• Automation processes and software.
• Familiarity with Data Analysis and be able to use to identify issues and drive improvements
• Diagnostics
• Disk Drives
• A good understanding of PC’s and Networking to enable one to setup, configure and debug Test Stations.
• Working remotely.
• Engineering Change Orders.
Skills
• Communications skills.
• Analytical ability
• Strong technical aptitude
Education Required: BS degree or equivalent experience.
Experience Required: Test Engineering or production experience desired.
