About the Team
Heard about Hadoop? Want to join? Hadoop was invented at XX! We contributed Hadoop to the community. Now we are now taking it to the next level – by enabling it to process data at unprecedented multi-petabyte scale, applying it to real-time streaming, adding elasticity for peak loads, and getting it to be enterprise-grade ready.
We are looking for talented, self-motivated and results-driven Software Engineers (FTE and Intern) at all levels, to help us figure out the right solution architecture and best practices for using, deploying and servicing Hadoop – from workload signature characterization (personalization, targeting, spam control, search) to all the way down to the grid level efficiency (utility, performance, throughput).
You will be working in challenging, cutting-edge technology areas and be able to leverage and culminate your skills and knowledge in areas of distributed-systems, servers, scalability, performance, storage, data migration, data replication and networking – in building out world-class solutions, fully optimized for XX! personalization, targeting, spam control, and search. You will have both the opportunity and the privilege to work alongside world-class engineers and leaders.
About the Job
? Design and implement different modules of the system, tools, and solutions
? Help write solution, architecture, requirements specs
? Advocate for best practices on scaling, deploying, and servicing big data
? Work with partner teams heavily using Hadoop by identifying and removing their blockers, pain points, and performance bottlenecks
? Work with Hadoop Core team on identifying requirements and system defects and/or bottlenecks
? Help roll out Hadoop solutions and best practices to XX!’s global footprint of server farms
? Connect dots on all aspects of IaaS and drive engineering excellence in this space
Minimum Job Qualifications
? Experience working with large UNIX-based distributed systems
? Solid fundamental computer science knowledge and a desire to apply theory to solve real-world, large-scale distributed system problems
? Understanding of engineering trade-offs to solve complex distributed systems and storage problems
? Familiarity with development in Unix/C/C++ environment and an understanding of Object-Oriented programming methodology
? Excellent oral and written communication skills and collaboration skills
? An ability to work easily with other team members and to drive project to completion
Preferable Job Qualifications
? Familiarity with design, implementation and performance of file-systems, content delivery and large-scale distributed systems
? Understanding of scalability issues in design high-performance, high-availability servers
? Familiarity with NFS, HTTP, TCP/IP is very desirable
? Familiarity with the entire Hadoop tools ecosystem is very desirable (PIG, HDFS, HBASE, etc.) |
