Position: SEO Program Manager Contractor
Level: PM3 is preferred, PM2 can be considered
Duration: 6-12 months, with possibility of extension and converting to FTE
Start Date: immediately
Rate: negotiable

The SEO Program Manager will be responsible for helping to design and develop SEO focused applications, writing detailed technical functional specifications, and identifying opportunities for SEO innovation across all of MSN.

The MSN SEO Team is dedicated to creating an SEO center of excellence for all of Microsoft over the coming year. It will be the responsibility of the SEO Program Manager to help define that center of excellence by expanding internal user awareness and education and outlining opportunities for SEO innovation across MSN. The challenge is to pull together the business & technical threads that will allow us to achieve this aspiration. We are looking for an experienced PM to drive tools across internal teams and to prototype features which will drive traffic and strong end-user engagement. As such, the successful candidate will have great business and strategic acumen in addition to a wealth of technical knowledge.
Candidates should have great core product management skills (strong customer empathy, attention to detail, proven track record of working with dev/test in a product group, using customer feedback in feature design, excellent written and oral communication skills). The position requires the demonstrated ability to influence product teams through written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, the wherewithal to handle multiple concurrent releases and demonstrated experience driving for results in a cross-group/team project. Experience in writing technical functional specification and project management is a must.

The SEO Program Manager must be able to function effectively in a rapid development environment. The candidate must be able to understand underlying business requirements, incorporate these requirements into a robust feature design, develop and/or manage delivery in a timely manner and then analyze performance and ROI. In order to perform these duties effectively, an understanding of SEO and content management on a scale approaching MSN’s will be a very big plus, though not required.

A Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline along with 4+ years of software development and project management experience in an online environment is preferred. He or she needs to have strong experience in managing schedules, working effectively across teams, and managing vendors. Strong communication and inter-group negotiation skills are essential for this role.
  
Position: SDET Contractor for KIP
Level: SDET3 is preferred, SDET2 can be considered
Duration: 6-12 months, with possibility of extension and converting to FTE
Start Date: immediately
Rate: negotiable

Your challenge will be to define the test strategy (test specs and test cases), implement automation and tools, execute testing and investigate bugs, and verify the integration of the components, performance, and manage vendor if necessary.

Candidates should have great core SDET skills (strong analysis/testing/debugging skills, attention to detail, proven track record of working with PM/Dev in a product group, using customer feedback in feature design, passion for product, solid written and oral communication skills). This position also requires the demonstrated ability to influence our product teams through written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, the wherewithal to handle multiple concurrent releases and experience driving for results in a cross-group/team project.

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent required with 3+ years of data analysis/testing/debugging experience and involvement in preferably one full commercial product release cycle with strong understanding of testing methodologies and testing tools. In addition the ideal candidate will have a technical background and be able to work in either C++ or C# and have a solid understanding of web (IIS, ASPX, VBScript, HTML, CSS, XML, and related .NET) technologies. Good communication skills, strong problem solving skills and a positive attitude are a must. The experience working or managing vendor is a plus.
  
Information about the team:
MSN S4 is a recently formed, high-profile new group inside MSN. The goal is to increase traffic, customer engagement and search experience through several major initiatives, including: SEO, SEM, Portal Search, and Keyword Intelligence Platform (KIP).
SEO efforts allows for higher ranking search results organically while SEM is the purchase of keywords through search engines. Site Search show cases MSN (e.g. editorial) Content and technology (e.g. video, message boards, etc.) and improves usage and relevancy. In this way you can drive user engagement, loyalty, market share and tens of millions in revenue.  Keyword Intelligence Platform give us extremely valuable insight about what keywords we should invest (e.g. what keyword/topics we should write content about), what keywords drives most traffic, what and keywords we should invest in SEM (purchasing through search engines).

Our charters and opportunities will be to create technologies, applications and platform for all of these initiatives on behalf of MSN (and Live). Some deliverables include:
•         SEO platform and analyzers to improve search-bot crawlablity, search keywords relevance and page rankings
•         SEM Tracker platform efficiently manage millions of keywords in search engines and ensure positive ROI
•         KIP platform that enable us to find the most popular search queries, trend analysis, top mover/losers, keyword expansion, etc.
•         Portal search which consists of PST (Popular Search Topics) in MSN homepage, QuickLinks (type ‘honda accord’ in MSN and see the first entry in the search result which promote MSN contents), and Site Search (type ‘cookie’ in Lifestyle channel and see new search result paradigm in finding something that is very relevant to what user is searching for).

These visible critical initiatives will drive traffic and revenue for the MSN Media Network from search engines and other external sources globally and in partnership with MSN Channels and Properties.  This ground floor opportunity will be to pull together the business & technical threads that allow us to achieve these aspirations.
