字符的替换怎样才能快？

比如我有个规则，A代表001，B代表010，如何把字符串‘ABAB'变成’001010001010‘呢？
如果用正则表达式，
my $str = 'AB';
$str =~ s/A/001/;
$str =~ s/B/010/;
say $str;
这样是不是太慢了，因为这样的操作很多。

问题基本搞定，我是想用两个字符串做异或运算，后来发现字符串可以直接XOR，不需要转换成二进制的表示。还是谢谢二位的回复。

By the way,
if you want to delete something, you need the d option for tr function to do it.

if you want to mapping ASCII char 0 to 255, you can do follow way in tr function or some function(s///, m//,...) :
1. \xNN for Hexdecimal number
    \x00-\xFF
2. \NNN for Octal number
    \000-\377
