what is the best way to test NETWORK MONITORING?\r\n\r\n我的一个Client 现在用mercury sitescope and HP openview to monitor the network device, service availability, performance, infrastructure etc etc. they have P1 thru P5 alert priority, and every day there are tons of email or pager sent out, so what is the best way to ensure the network is monitored effectively?

from auditor\'s points of view, you can check \r\n- if the network monitoring rules are set properly and anything that violates the rules should be logged.\r\n- if the log is reviewed in timely. is there any evidence to support this.\r\n- if any procedure exists to follow up exceptions and report to the management\r\n- if any periodical network monitoring report is drafted for IT management review and sign-off. If yes, review those report to look at if any accident may have impact on the system and its data.
