Question on db2fence ...

Anyone know why we need this db2fence? Let say, I got 3 databases in the same server then should I create 3 db2fence for different databases or just sharing the same one?

Please advise.

1.The fenced user is used to run user defined functions (UDFs) and stored procedures outside of the address space used by the DB2 database.(Pls refer to the help for DB2)

2.One instance, one db2fence user.If your three DBs are belong to one instance,you may share the same one.

Pls correct me if any questions on it.

May I know what do you outside of the address space used by the DB2 database? How I know whether the program is run inside/outside of the address space for that particular database? Besides, how I check how much spaces the database have right now?

As I mentioned above,If you don't use the fence user to run the UDF or SP,it will run inside of  the address space(memory),As this  memory is to be assign to the database when the database is active.Thus it may crash the database.
You had bettter run the sp or udf  outside of the "database"  memory.
