Senior Technologist, Office of the CTO

Office of the CTO, EMC Incorporated, is seeking an industry leader to join our organization in China.

This person will align the work by CTO organizations in China with key strategic technology initiatives of the company. A successful candidate will be able to collaborate with other product groups in China and the rest of the company, with a focus on the regional market.

This person will help strengthen the relationship between EMC and universities, industry and government in the region by participating in relevant forums and standard bodies. Through these activities, the person will also be able to identify and interpret trends in technology and government requirements, develop local market intelligence and help CTO office to develop strategy and acquisition plans.

This person will help drive technical programs in China COE, strengthen its technical ladder and build local engineering community.

Qualifications:

• A successful career as a research or engineering leader with minimum of 15 years of experience
• Widely recognized by the industry and/or academia
• Deep understanding of technology trends and its impact to EMC
• Deep understanding of local market, university, industry and government
• Great organization skills with the ability to initiate and execute company-wide programs
• Overseas education and working experience
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English

This position is based in Beijing, China.

Engineering Manager

Building the world’s largest Data Warehouses at true petabyte-scale, Greenplum is committed to pioneering massively parallel data-intensive analytic processing. We are looking for a talented engineering lead to join us and explore and develop core technologies as part of our Database Product Engineering team.

As a key member of the team, you will
• create the product design as expressed by written and verbal specifications from product managers and conversations with the visionary stakeholders
• participate in developing the architecture stack
• own the entire software lifecycle from design over development to functional and performance QA
• have responsibility for delivery of high quality fully functional components of the system
• mentor, coach, and manage talented engineers

You will work as part of a team of software developers who are geographically dispersed.

Desired Experience

• Experience as a project leader or manager successfully delivering enterprise software
• Deep understanding of system technology
• Understanding of and experience with OS kernel technology, e.g., network programming
• Experience shipping high-performance high-throughput software
• Experience with multi-threading, network programming and distributed systems
• Strong software development practices
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English

Minimal requirements
• 5 or more years in a professional software engineering role
• 2 years as a first-line manager or supervisor
• Computer Science degree
• Ability to work closely with and travel to US-based peer teams
