Resolution
Before checking out a linked clone desktop to run it in local mode, you must publish its base image to the Transfer Server repository. You can publish the base image when you create the pool or later.
To publish the base image to the Transfer Server:
In View Administrator, click View Configuration > Transfer Server Repository.
Click Publish.
Select a View Composer base image from the list and click Next.
Click Finish.
Alternatively:
In View Administrator, click Inventory > Pools.
Select the pool and click Edit
Click the vCenter Settings tab.
In the Virtual Machine Settings section, click Browse.
Select Publish snapshot to Transfer Server repository for use with Local Mode and click OK.

If the base image was already published and the problem persists:
Verify the virtual machine to be checked out is not in an error state. If an error exists, address that issue, and check out the virtual machine.
Delete the base image from the Repository using View Administrator, and re-publish the image using any of the methods described above.
