Before you ask customer to vary the library online, wait for library to complete initialization. Initialization will take approximately six minutes after power is applied to the library. This allows the tape drive to be configured to SCSI address of failed tape drive. Note: It is very important to be aware that each drive sled contains both drive firmware and library firmware. v Library firmware: Replacement boards containing library firmware, such as the Tape Drive Sled, may come from stock with a firmware level other than the current firmware level that is in the other firmware components in the library. It is even possible that the firmware may be incompatible (non-multi-path architecture type firmware). Thus, it is very important to always check the firmware level of the library (Main Menu —> More —> About —> Details) and update the firmware in the entire library to the latest level (see “Updating Firmware” on page 4-114). For proper operation of the library, ensure that the firmware level of the replacement part matches the library firmware level of the entire library. v Drive firmware: Drive firmware in the drive within the replacement drive sled from stock may also be at a different level than the other drives in the library. While LTO 1 and LTO 2 drive types have different firmware levels, if the library contains both drive types, all the drives of both types (including the replacement drive) should be brought up to the latest level.Note: The boot code of the new part does not have to match the boot code of the other parts in the library. |
