This driver diskette image provides the binary driver modules pre-built for your Linux Distribution to enable the HP ProLiant 64-bit/133-MHz Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI HBA and HP U320 64-Bit Single Channel SCSI G2 HBA, HP U320 64-Bit Single Channel SCSI HBA, HP 8 Internal Port SAS/SATA HBA with RAID, HP 4 Internal Port SAS HBA with RAID and SCxxXe series of HBA.
Using a driver diskette at your Linux Distribution installation time allows the most up-to-date driver version included in the diskette to be used, rather than the default driver version contained in your Linux Distribution's installation CDs.

Installation
There are two methods to create the Installation Diskette:
MAKING A DISKETTE UNDER MS-DOS:
Save the "mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd.gz" file into a temporary directory.
Use WINZIP to extract "mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd" from this file into the same directory. Please ensure that "mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd" is a DOS 8.3 name.
Label a blank, formatted 3.5-inch diskette as "HP U320 SCSI Adapter and SAS HBA with RAID Driver Diskette".
Next, insert the diskette in the diskette drive. Then, use the following commands (assuming your ProLiant Disk Image is at the location c: and your CD-ROM is drive d
C:\> d:\dosutils\rawrite
Enter disk image source file name: mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd
Enter target diskette drive: a:
Please insert a formatted diskette into drive A: and press --ENTER-- : Enter
Note: The "rawrite" utility can usually be found on the first CD of the installation media.
MAKING A DISKETTE UNDER A LINUX-LIKE OS:
Save the "mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd.gz" file into a temporary directory. Use GUNZIP to extract "mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd" from this file into the same directory.
To make a diskette under Linux (or any other Linux-like operating system), you must have permission to write to the device representing a 3.5-inch diskette drive (known as /dev/fd0 under Linux).
First, label a blank, formatted diskette appropriately (HP U320 SCSI Adapter and SAS HBA with RAID Driver Diskette). Insert the diskette into the floppy drive, but DO NOT issue the mount command:
# dd if=mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k
This command creates a diskette containing the image of the input file (Driver Diskette image) to an output file (Floppy Diskette). To make another diskette run the same "dd" command again.
INSTALLATION
To install Linux using this "HP U320 SCSI Adapter and SAS HBA with RAID Driver Diskette", boot your Linux machine with your Linux Distribution's CD1 in your CD-ROM Drive.
A menu will be displayed, prompting for your input. Type the following line of code to inform the operating system of the diskette:
\tab # linux updates dd
Your Linux Distribution will prompt for the "HP U320 SCSI Adapter and SAS HBA with RAID Driver Diskette" during the installation procedure.
CAUTION: If ProLiant Support Pack version 7.40 or older is installed, please install mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd.gz prior to rebooting the system.
Note: If HP System Insight Manager support is required, please install the mptlinux-{version}-(release).{distro}.{buildtype}.dd.gz after the OS has completed its installation process and is successfully booting.
