Position Title: Data Warehouse Consultant
Location: Dalian
Summary Description:
This position is a data warehouse technical consultant within the Teradata Professional Services Global Consulting Centers (GCCs). This is primarily an “offshore” position but at times it will be client-facing in Japan. Consultant must have excellent Chinese and Japanese speaking/writing skills. The consultant has accountability for delivering the services and solutions associated with the Teradata database, under the direction of the Teradata PS Project Manager. The Database Consultant determines the architecture, standards, methodology and tools used to manage information in conjunction with the “onsite” PS team in Japan. Provides in-depth technical needs analysis and advises solution teams on database configuration and utilization issues during the client engagement. Responsible for designing database query specifications, as well as database implementation, performance tuning administration and security.
Key areas of Responsibility
• This individual will be responsible for solution design, integration, data sourcing and transformation, database design and development (logical / physical) and tool implementation related to data warehousing.
• Interface with Teradata “onsite” staff as needed to resolve complex technical issues
• Specify, demonstrate and scope Teradata solutions that deliver business value to the client / prospect.
• Transfer knowledge and expertise to other NCR GCC associates.
• Provide thought leadership technical and industry expertise to data warehouse clients that will contribute to innovative business solutions.
Scope:
• Average number of billable hours targeted at 1200 hours annually (first full year).

Dual Chinese and Japanese speaking a must
Previous work experience in Japan a plus
Usually assigned to a customer facing team but working “offshore” in China while interfacing directly with the Japan PS team that is at the customer’s site.

Education / Experience Requirements
• 5 to 10 years experience in a related field with demonstrable successes.
• Strong Teradata technical expertise
• Teradata Master a plus
• Fluent in Chinese and Japanese language.
• Knowledge and experience with UNIX, relationship database technology and end user tools
• Knowledge and experience with Oracle to Teradata migration tools, techniques and methodologies
• Knowledge and experience with ETL implementations and tool sets such as Informatica and Datastage.
• Knowledge of BI implementations and tool sets, most importantly, Business Objects and MicroStrategy
• Industry experience for financial industry (banking, credit card in particular), retail industry, manufacturing industry and/or communication industry is desirable
• B.S. degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field. |
