linux下的有比较好用的绘图工具包吗？

请问linux下有没有类似windows下GDI一样的绘图函数库？
只要能绘图就可以了，不需要窗口等其他的东西；

我再请教一下：
（1）gdk可以在控制台模式下工作吗？
（2）gdk是linux缺省安装的绘图工具包吗？
（3）gdk能否在kde和gnome环境下都能运行？

opengl，和sdl多用于三维场景下；我其实只想要类似gdi这样的东西；能用画笔画个圆，画条线之类的;
请大侠多指教

GNOME对楼主而言不会陌生吧，它们的关系是这样的：
