1. Install EMC AIX ODM Driver
dosdir
dosread EMC_AIX*.Z
zcat EMC* or uncompress EMC.*
tar xvf EMC*.tar
cd fcp
smitty installp
cfgmgr
2. Install PowerPath
mount -v cdrfs -r -p /dev/cd0 /cdrom
cd /cdrom/AIX
smitty installp
3. Create PowerPath Licesence File
vi /etc/powerpath_regestration
0202WTALEUZX
0202WTELVXEL
powermt check_registration
4. Reboot Unix Server
mkbcv -a
emc_cfgmgr
powercf -q
powermt config
inq > /tmp/diskinfo
savebase
to remove hdisks
lsdev -CtSYMM* |xargs -n1 rmdev -dl
set up a PowerPath boot device on a Symmetrix for a new PowerPath installation.
1. Reduce the number of physical Symmetrix paths to the intended boot
device to 1.
2. Install AIX on a Symmetrix disk volume accessed by a SCSI adapter.
3. Install the current EMC Symmetrix drivers.
4. Reboot the host.
5. Install PowerPath 1.5.0. See the "PowerPath 1.5 Product Guide for UNIX"
for information about installing PowerPath 1.5.0.
NOTE: Do not run the powercf and powermt config commands when you
install PowerPath. These commands will run when you reboot
the host.
6. Install this patch (1.5.0.3). See "Instructions For Installing Patch
1.5.0.3" in this document.
7. Use the bosboot command to create the boot image. Enter "bosboot -a".
8. Reconnect all physical paths to the Symmetrix.
9. Reboot the host.
10. Use the pprootdev command to set up multipathing to the root device.
Enter "pprootdev on".
11. Use the bootlist command to add all of the alternate path hdisk
devices to the boot list.
12. Reboot the host
