High-performance RAID Architecture

   A custom high-performance logical processor chip set is at the heart of the Hi-PER Architecture within the Thunder 9500 V Series systems. Working together, these chips perform all RAID functions in silicon and switch data in and out for optimal performance. The logic-assist processor provides support for Hitachi ShadowImage(TM) In-System Replication, Hitachi TrueCopy(TM) Remote Replication, and Hitachi Copy-on-Write Snapshot (formerly QuickShadow) software, and provides self-checking of the system. The chip set also supports large and fast caches plus the ultra high-speed cached bandwidth (up to 7.5GB/sec) for optimal performance. 
   The Thunder 9500 V Series systems offer 2Gbit/sec-throughput Fibre Channel connectivity to both host and disk. Thunder 9500 V Series systems support up to two disk controllers in keeping with the Thunder family’s completely redundant design. The controllers are linked with twin high-speed connections that are about five times as fast as competitive offerings. This ensures extremely fast operation along with controller failover in the case of component failure for uninterrupted operation.
