Server Firmware Version

There are two methods to check firmware version on HP servers: OnlineDiagnostics
or the boot display (see  "Using the Boot Display
(this requires a reboot):" ).
Use OnlineDiagnostics if you do not want to reboot your system.
 Using OnlineDiagnostics:
If the OnlineDiagnostics are not already on your system, you
can find them on the HP-UX 11i v1 Support Plus CD, or on your OE
media (CD or DVD).

As root, run the Support Tools Manager (STM)
utility:
/usr/sbin/cstm

Use the map command to find the device number (Dev Num)
for the processors on your system; search for items with the product
description CPU:
cstm>map                              
                    systemA.hp.com
Dev                                                 
Num  Path                 Product
===  ==================== =========================

     ...
34   160                  CPU (5c4)
35   166                  CPU (5c4)
Select any one of the processors (CPU)
to use in the next step.

Use the CPU device number as input to the sel dev command to request information on that processor. For
example:

cstm>sel dev 34; info

Use the information log command (il) to find the firmware version number:

cstm>il

Firmware Revision:       40.14    

Enter q to leave this screen. Then press Enter at the next prompt, and enter exit to exit the utility.

If your system requires a firmware
upgrade, proceed to  "How
to Download Firmware Upgrades" .
 Using the Boot Display
(this requires a reboot):

As your system is booting up, interrupt the
auto-boot sequence by pressing any key when prompted. For example:

...
Primary boot path:   0/0/2/0.2
Alternate boot path: 0/0/2/0.2
Console path:        0/0/4/0.0
Keyboard path:       0/0/4/0.0
Processor is booting from first available device.
To discontinue, press any key with 10 seconds.

You'll see the boot Main Menu:

Enter: IN    (for INformation)

You'll see the information menu:

Enter: FV   (for Firmware Version)
You'll see something like the following:

FIRMWARE INFORMATION
Firmware Version:       40.14

Continue with the boot (example commands are in bold):

Information Menu: Enter command > BO PRI
Interact with IPL (Y, N, or Cancel)?> N
Booting...
