磁带库正常识别条码，但是备份软件识别不正常，何解？

The latest two characters is very important to determined  the cartridge Media Type. For example, L4 is LTO-4 cartridge. It isn't loaded into the down-level model such as LTO-1, 2 or 3 tape drive for Read and Write. LT is LTO-3 WORM (Write Once Read Many) cartridge and the kind of WORM tape can be wrote once a time only.

Some tape library provides an option to allow the user to set 6- or 8-Barcode display. The default is set to 8 usually. When the barcode display is set to 6 in the tape library, the library always returns 6 characters only to the tape driver and the backup software. So, the first thing is to check how the barcode  display is set in the tape library.

Most backup software allows the user to choose 6 or 8 characters when the tape library returns 8 characters, or you can add an additional or your own define for a 6 characters label like LTO-3 something. Further, you can ask the technical support of the backup software whether  you need to worry about 6 or 8 characters setup. The backup software may take care the barcode setup or management for you in the background even though it displays 6 characters to the user.

对头,,,,L3是磁带类别嘛,,,识别出来咋子?  只要是地球人用这机器这磁带都知道L3是啥意思嘛,,,,,     :mrgreen    :

我是说在软件里看不到L3这俩字母！~~~

两个磁带库

一个HP的
一个是Scalar i500

在同一个备份软件里HP DP里，可以看到HP磁带库里的磁带为ABC001L3样子的条码

但是在软件里看Scalar i500磁带库里的磁带只是ABC001这样的磁带

因为磁带库有LTO3和LTO2的磁带共同使用，如果在软件里看不到L2、L3，不太方便！

备份软件：HP DP

目前现象：磁带库识别条码为ABC001L3，但是在备份软件里只可以看到ABC0001，看不到 ...

你说的是MM里看到的meidaID吧，nbu默认只用barcode的前六位做mediaID。你可以在inventory的时候自己设置mediaID的生成策略，但是只能是六位--例如，你可以生成ABC1L3的mediaID

一般来说都是六位的。
要是有多位的话，你可能需要通过软件去设置读取其中的那几位？

建议仔细观察条码。
没显示L3的那种，怀疑条码里根本就不包含这两个字母的信息。

哦？倒没想到这种可能，会有吗，有的话也观察不出来，只能两个带库的磁带互相倒两盘试试了
