Computer Associates Acquires SAN ISV

Computer Associates International on Wednesday said it acquired substantially all the assets of Netreon, a privately held SAN software developer.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based ISV's SAN setup software, SANexec Designer, will be integrated into CA's BrightStor family of storage management products and will be branded as BrightStor SAN Designer, CA said in a statement.
BrightStor SAN Designer will be sold through CA's channel partners and through its direct-sales force.
SANexec Designer automatically detects devices on a SAN, draws an accurate picture of the storage network using Microsoft Visio and tests the devices for compatibility before they are installed, which can result in up to 75 percent cost savings for customers, according to Netreon.
"At a time when storage needs are escalating and IT staffing is not, BrightStor SAN Designer offers a great solution for simplifying the deployment and ongoing management of storage networks," said Frank Yang, senior vice president and general manager of CA's BrightStor brand unit, in the statement.
CA did not disclose the purchase price of the all-cash transaction.
Shares of CA traded up 29 cents at $13.74 Wednesday morning. |
