摘 要:
Storage area networks are continuing to grow in popularity and install base. Many IT organizations are looking to build larger SANs with higher port densities to meet provisioning, storage capacity, and connectivity objectives. In the past, a large SAN might have been in the range of 64-128 ports. However, many IT organizations have or are planning to build SANs that number low thousands of ports. With the introduction of Cisco’s Virtual SAN (VSAN) capability providing the flexibility to dynamically define isolated virtual fabrics within the same physical fabric, larger physical fabrics with higher port counts are even more desirable. A larger physical fabric leveraging VSANs that can provide the required isolation of “SAN islands” in a flexible manner is a more manageable solution than the current popular SAN deployment model of building several small physically isolated SAN islands.
