why my phpbb cannot connect to the database

when i install phpBB,it complain:
phpBB : Critical Error
Could not connect to the database

but i can use ./mysql -uroot -p123456 to connetc my mysql in command line...

do i need some configuration modified in php.ini or somthing else?

我也碰到了同样的问题我的MYSQL设置了密码(root),但在装phpbb时加上这个密码就出错:phpBB : Critical Error ,而不填密码时却能正常安装郁闷!
