Senior MTS – Virtual Infrastructure Management

Engineers on this team are building systems that manage the interaction of Virtual Infrastructure crossing hypervisors. They use virtualization as a key technology to design and implement solutions that solve real-world problems. Their work focuses on developing scalable software capable of managing heterogeneous virtualization systems crossing hypervisors in datacenters and cloud.

As Senior MTS, the candidate will lead the design and implementation of key subsystems within an enterprise-class server management platform. The candidate must be able to actively contribute to design and architecture discussions. The applicant must have a strong understanding of the software development process with an excellent track record in troubleshooting and diagnostics. Prior success in and enthusiasm for a fast-paced environment with aggressive development cycles is critical. You must also be capable of leading a small team to take these ideas to implementation.

Responsibilities:

* Design and develop the mission-critical control and systems-management software for VMware's virtualization products crossing various hypervisors, taking into account scalability, reliability, security and usability.
* Work with UI engineers and usability specialists to provide the appropriate abstractions for exposing the underlying concepts in the physical and virtual infrastructure.
* Provide strong leadership through all phases of development - product design, detailed UI design, functional requirements, and development.
* Develop key components, framework and support other developers to ensure the successful implementation of their designs.
* Establish and enforce interface consistency while developing innovative designs
* Work with QA engineers and ensure software testability, quality and stability
* Document and explain feature specifications for complex and/or innovative features

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a leading university/institute
* 5+ years of industry experience with at least 2 years in a technical leadership position
* Strong experience of developing client-server, web, distributed, clustered, multithreaded applications in C, C++, C# or Java
* Experience in building systems-management and monitoring applications a big plus
* Proven ability to deliver commercial quality software
* Extensive experience designing modular, object-oriented and server-side software with high performance
* Understanding of system architecture, including processors, memory, storage and networking is highly desirable
* Experience with device operations management software and strong familiarity with WMI/WS-MAN protocol or SOAP is a big plus
* Must be comfortable developing on both Windows and Linux environments
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both Chinese and English
* Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
