有人成功配置过VMware4.0下的shared folders吗？

根据Help，作如下设置：
To create a shared folder:

Open a virtual machine and click its tab to make it the active virtual machine.
Select Edit >; Virtual Machine Settings >; Options and click Shared folders.
Click Add to add one or more folders to the list.
A wizard guides you through the process. Enter the required information, then click OK.

但在/mnt下面看不到任何东西。

Help里也说：
Note: To use shared folders, you must have the current version of VMware Tools installed in the guest operating system.

我明明已经安装好了，但在VMware的状态栏中还是提示:You do not have VMware tools installed.

测试环境：winXP+VMware4.0.0+FreeBSD 5.1  release

Installing VMware Tools for FreeBSD
-----------------------------------

1.  Download VMware Tools for FreeBSD
                                 
    VMware Tools for FreeBSD can be downloaded from http://www.vmware.com.


2.  Setting up your system

    For full functionality, VMware Tools for FreeBSD requires your system
    already have X windows installed and configured.  If you install
    and configure an X server after installing the tools, it may be
    necessary to re-install the tools.


3.  Installing VMware Tools for FreeBSD

    After downloading the file, unpack it:

        tar xzf vmware-freebsd-tools.tar.gz

    Go to the vmware-freebsd-tools directory:

        cd vmware-freebsd-tools

    Become root:

        su

    Run the install script:

        ./install.pl


4.  VMware Tools for FreeBSD have been installed.  Type startx (or however
    you normally start the X server) to run the VMware X server.


5.  When X is up, run the vmware-toolbox program and use it to change
    some of the virtual machine settings from the guest operating
    system.

但还是提示说没：You do not have VMware tools installed.

共享文件夹好像只能用于windows系列，在virtual pc下至少是这样的

在Windows下已经没有必要了.我在VMware4.0中装了个win98,把所有盘全部共享出来.可读可写.还需要设置shared folders吗?

按你这种需求，安装samba就可以了。

Samba我已经用过了。感觉还可以。
但我共享的目录，不仅多而且不固定（有时共享有时不共享），经常更改那个Samba的配置文件也不太方便。
如果能够在VMware中设置shared folders，相对方便多了。对否？

vm里的share好像是只有用于与当前外系统相同类的吧，比如在windows里的vm，只有再在vm里装windows了哟..

那个share与smb的是两回事吧..
