squid 安装问题，

我在做Proxy 服务器是，安装squid怎么不成功，具体情况如下，望指点：
我下在了squid-2.5.STABLE3.tar.gz,安装情况如下：
#tar xvfz squid-2.5.STABLE3.tar.gz  
                (这部能成功完成)
#./configure        出现如下：
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install .../usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build enviroment is sane ... yes
checking for mawk... no
checking for gawk ... gawk
checking whether make sets ${MAKE} ... yes
checking whethter Makefiles ... no
checking for gcc ... no
checking for cc ... no
configure:error:no acceptable cc found in $PATH

#make
#make install 这都不成功
请问这是什么原因，请大家帮忙解决，不胜感激！
最好能说说具体的解决办法。等。。。。。

什么平台？不同的平台安装起来不太一样。

哦，对不起忘了告诉你们操作系统版本。我装的是Red Hat Linux 7.2,
2.4.7内核，谢谢你，具体告诉我一下，真的很感谢！
