Systems Engineer Job Description
Summary Description:
The Systems Engineer performs a wide range of complex and specialised tasks within the information technology team. Primary responsibilities include the development and delivery of IT infrastructure solutions, building and maintaining good working relationships with local and remote technical teams, the creation, conformance and extension of internal standards, and the certification of hardware for use throughout Amazon fulfilment centres.
Other responsibilities include capacity planning, project management, technical leadership and acting as an escalation point for local staff when dealing with high severity issues.
Independent judgement and initiative must be exercised regularly in an effort to constantly look for system improvements whilst paying absolute attention to customers needs.

Notes:
The systems engineer will be required to liaise with global teams on technical projects, support and standards compliance. As such regular attendance of weekly or bi-weekly late night conference calls with global teams is required.
On occasion some projects may require after hours work.
This is a senior position and therefore some issues may be escalated to the incumbent after hours.
Time in lieu for any of the above will be arranged.
NOTE: Language ability and technical skills will be assessed during interviews.
