Lab administrator
Job Summary:
The Lab administrator will be responsible for the Planning, deployment, administration, monitoring, analysis and support of BDC R&D center Lab resource covering the following:
1. Virtualization Platform. Servers, switch, storages and VMware platform
2. Physical Performance Servers and PCs
3. Digital TV equipment (e.g. streamer, scrambler, modulators and cable network etc.)
Lab services are delivered mainly to developers and testers in the Beijing Development Center. The R&D Center Lab Administrator will evaluate the hardware and software requirement of projects from teams and relocate Lab resource and solution to projects.
Primary Duties:
The Lab admin will perform a variety of duties to fulfill this role:
? Manage Lab environment security; monitor the temperature, noise, power consumption, access control etc.
? Respond to and resolve complex information system (application, server, and network) hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software tools and techniques.
? Provide analysis and support, acting as primary contact with internal customers, technical supports, vendors and engineering groups to ensure proper resolution of problems.
? The Lab admin must have the ability to work independently with general to detailed instructions on new assignments.
? Maintain data center infrastructure – install new equipment and operating systems, deploy applications and VM’s, troubleshoot and repair hardware, and retire end of life equipment
? Manage VMware systems in engineering – deploy new VM’s, track capacity, update templates and perform backups
? Maintain OS patching and virus scanning system updates across systems
? Automate system monitoring and maintenance tasks by creating scripts and applications or identifying and evaluating off the shelf tools.
? Analyze and resolve problems involving interaction between applications, server hardware / firmware / OS and storage by working with software developers, QA, and equipment vendors.
? Support production applications and development and testing environment, servers and networks. Restore service as quickly as possible.
Required Skills:
? Proficient with Windows 2008 Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SQL service etc
? Experience installing, configuring, and managing Linux
? Experience with installing, configuring DELL Poweredge, IBM X series servers
? Proficient with configuring and managing VMware vSphere and vCenter system and ability to develop scripts to automate monitoring and data collection tasks using shell scripting
? Experience with IP networking, multicasting and configuring Cisco switches and routers and IP SAN equipment
? Proficient with digital TV industry equipment like DVB-T / T2 / DVB-S / S2 / DVB-C modulator, streamers, VOD server and MUX etc
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
? Flexibility to work off-hours to accommodate scheduled changes
? Capability to work independently
Required Experience:
Five to seven years of experience managing an IT infrastructure
Technical education background, University Degree or equivalent
Personal Interest in IT communications, industry trends and direction
