I did not meet with the problem until "device ahci" is attended to FreeBSD 8 kernel configuration file. That is because the new SATA driver "ahci(4)" uses a different disk ID ("ad4" to "ada0" for my laptop).

I specified "ada0s1a" to mount root from the loader prompt, then edited /etc/fstab to substitute all "ad4" with "ada0". And the prolem was solved.
