System Engineer Job Description
Summary
The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.
This individual will support project teams with technical aspects of projects. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and research & development within the project scope. Provide technical analysis and design and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.
This individual is accountable for the following systems: Linux servers that support infrastructure; Linux Application systems that support web and streaming properties. Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure continual operation.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for day-to-day management of infrastructure systems that support the Consumer business.
* Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
* Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Negate or otherwise minimize impact caused by equipment failure; coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
* Maintain effective operational communications between RN, IDC personnel and CDN. This includes traveling periodically to IDC locations to perform onsite maintenance and deployments.
* Track, analyze and report detailed product and service performance metrics and trends.
* Assist with troubleshooting of any issues that relate to the infrastructure or product offerings of RN.

50% Platform maintenance, management and upgrades both hardware and software.
20% Supporting infrastructure development and upgrades.
20% Monitoring and reporting of KPI metrics such as bandwidth usage and trends.
10% Assist in assessment of new RN products prior to release.
