Responsibilities:
The Staff Unix Engineer is a member of the operations staff with responsibility for proper functioning of all availability and performance of both ebay production site ‘s Unix Infrastructure and Analytics Infrastructure. As a member of a world-class Operations team, the Staff Unix Engineer is responsible for operationally excellent management and operation of UNIX servers, SAN Storage, Loadbalancer and Hadoop System. Additionally, the successful candidate will work quickly under pressure to execute actions required to maintain site availability and performance.

Qualifications:
· EE or CS degree or equivalent

· 8+ years related experience

· Solid knowledge of operating system internals, file system structures, and machine architectures in a UNIX operating systems especially Solaris and Linux.

· Experience with large scale Hadoop environment build and support including design, configuration, installation and performance monitoring

· Basic knowledge and experience with parallel ETL tools

· Working experience with scripting tools, Perl, Python and UNIX shell scripting

· Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution

· Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment

· Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge

· Fluent in English language (including written, listening and spoken)
