现在，又很多存储厂商的磁盘阵列可以支持OS的安装。即是，服务器上不使用硬盘，OS都直接安装在磁盘阵列上面。服务器只是作为一个计算、运行平台，所有数据都存储在磁盘阵列中。
Emulex生产的光纤HBA支持这样的功能，需要在BIOS中进行设置。在做之前，需要首先在磁盘阵列上做好用于安装OS的LUN。
Below is the step by step procedure for setting up the boot device with
Boot BIOS v1.40 and installation of windows 2000
1- Press F5 function key to enter in Emulex BIOS utility.
2- Select the HBA (LP-7000/LP-8000/LP-9000).
3- enter 2 to configure the HBA's parameters.
4- enter 1 to ensure the BIOS is ENABLE or NOT.
(If the BIOS is already enbale then skip this step).
5- enter 4 to select the Topology that approriate for the current
configuration (either LOOP or P2P).
6- Reboot the system.
7- repeat steps # 1,and 2.
8- enter 1 to configure the Boot device.
9- Select the boot entry by entering any available number
on the list.
10- Select the desired boot device by entering any two digit
that available on the devices list.
11- Enter two digits of starting LUN.(for FC hard disk ussually 00, for
Array with multiple LUN, select any LUN that available).
12- Select boot device via WWPN or via DID by entering the number
availlable on the list.
13- Reboot the system.
14- Boot up Windows 2000 from CD-Disc.
15- Press F6 key when prompted.
16- Press "S" to specified any additional HBA.
17- Insert the Emulex driver diskette in the floppy drive.
18- Select the right HBA or Topology, then press "Enter".
19- After that press "Enter" then follow the instruction on the screen
to complete the windows 2000 installation. |
