Senior Software Engineer, Linux system
This key software engineering position will work as part of a global R&D team with team members around the world. The position is based in Shanghai, China, as part of an growing engineering group that creates a wide variety of products. As a senior member of the team you will be responsible for:
• Requirements analysis;
• Development of Linux based OS image for HP hardware platform
• Development of/ troubleshoot Linux based application or solution (shell and/or C/C++);
• System management and support tools for HP products;
The successful candidate will be:
• Self motivated;
• An innovative and creative thinker;
• Highly collaborative with other teams and other cultures around the world;
• Able to deliver high quality work while managing their work to the team deadlines;
A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field is required. Strong logical thinking and excellent communication skills are very important for success in this position. The ability to work as part of a team, as well as being self directed and having the capacity to work independently, are very important. In addition the following technical skills are also required:
1. Strong Linux system architecture knowledge: including but not limited to kernel architecture, boot process and file system;
2. Programming: C/C++ Programming as well as shell programming under Linux;
3. At least 5 year work experience on Linux, including 2 year Linux kernel development
4. Troubleshooting/Problem solving skills: knowledge of debug tools such as gdb as well as capability of narrowing down the issue without source code;
5. Networking development knowledge: such as socket programming, TCP/IP, Samba etc.
6. Experience with building Linux kernel.
7. Basic knowledge of QT and xWindow / Desktop management system development.
8. English skill, especially reading and writing.
