Yahoo! China R&D Center in Beijing is fully owned and operated by United States based Yahoo! Inc. The Sponsored Search team at the Center is looking for a senior software engineer to join our team to support the product for the next 12 to 18 months. You will be working on the Hadoop based offline distributed computing system to process over hundred of gigabytes of data per day to drive ad serving and modeling.

1.
Key Responsibilities
. Develop distributed tools, applications, and libraries on Hadoop computing grid for Internet-scale data acquisition and mining.
. Scale new products and features to meet production requirements, measure and fine-tune performance metrics.
Minimum Requirements
. Proven ability to develop novel software engineering solutions to complex design/implementation problems.
. Skilled in using Perl, or shell scripting for automation on UNIX.
. Fluency in C/C++ and Java.
. Familiar with Map/Reduce programming paradigm and Hadoop applications.
. Self-starter and good team player, flexible to work with counterparts in the US and other countries.
. BS in Comp Science or related field with 3+ years or MS with 1+ year of practical experience designing and developing modern, object-oriented, large scale distributed systems.
Preferred Job Qualifications
. Enterprise experience with ETL processes, data management, operational data stores, data marts, relational and object-oriented data systems.
. In-depth of understanding of Grid computing, Hadoop, and PIG.

Responsibilities
· Function as a technical generalist responsible for the overall health and performance of our ad serving platforms
· Develop tools to automate the deployment, administration, and monitoring of a large-scale Linux environment
· Gain deep application-level knowledge of the systems as well as contributing to their overall design
· Work with development teams to harden, enhance, document, and generally improve the operability of our systems
· Assist in the configuration/build-out of new deployments to facilitate our constant growth Participate in a 12x7 (daylight hours) on-call pager rotation
Minimum Job Qualifications
· Solid experiences with Linux (RHEL a plus)
· Extensive system administration background in Linux system
· Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, including application and network-level troubleshooting ability
· Strong programming skills in one or more of: C/C++, Perl, Python, Ruby
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Experience working with development teams
Preferred Job Qualifications
· 2+ years experience administering large-scale UNIX installations (ISP background a plus) Experience with SQL and commonly deployed database systems
