Department Description

The Switched Digital Video (SDV) department in Motorola develops real time mission critical products for the cable and telecommunications industry.  These products are central to the operation of digital video networks performing resource management tasks to deliver video and advanced services to homes and businesses. An advanced engineering group inside the SDV department is developing cutting edge products to further enhance the capabilities of the digital video network.  Development activities include the collection and analysis of large scale data sets and integration of advanced advertising services into the video network.

Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations

The candidate will design and develop software for the digital video networks.  This software must be high performance, scalable, and maintainable.  The candidate will develop detailed design documents, implement software modules, unit test the software, and integration test the software with other system components.  Additional responsibilities include supporting customer lab systems and field trial deployments. The job will include training in the United States on various products and designs.  

Specific Knowledge / Skills

MS in Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of SW development experience
Must have very strong C++ skills
Must be proficient with Object Oriented software development
Should have experience with multi-threaded programming
Experience with XML, XSL, JavaScript, and Linux a plus

Strong analytical skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision
