AMANDA, the Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver, is a
backup system that allows the administrator of a LAN to set up a
single master backup server to back up multiple hosts to one or more

facilities and can back up a large number of workstations running
multiple versions of Unix.  Newer versions of AMANDA (including this
version) can use SAMBA to back up Microsoft(TM) Windows95/NT hosts.

zmanda 和amanda的关系和postgresql和enterpriseDB的关系一样.

有联系，但不是一个东西. 就像你安装了enterpriseDB,看文件还会看到postgresql的命名一样.

zmanda 在amanda基本的网络备份的基础上，建立了ZRM和针对多种应用的addon, 并且对amanda 原来的network backup版本作针对企业应用的增强和优化.比如针对Veritas, NetApp和MySQL等.还有对多平台的backup client的支持(看zmanda网站中, amanda enterprise solution的CHANGELOG).

我靠，这么老的帖子还能翻出来！不过这个东西似乎比较麻烦，当时我尝试操作一下，可以成功备份，但是好像还原会出问题。不知道有没有比较可靠的文档来说明一个具体的操作案例。
