终于解决了，这个问题是由于RHEL4以上的IA64位版本中缺少对JRE1.4.2的支持造成的，改用3.0的版本就可以了

Sun produces J2SE (both JRE and SDK) that runs on the following operating systems and CPUs. Other vendors provide ports of J2SE to various operating systems and CPUs not listed here. Note that Sun only produces an SDK for Itanium 2 operating systems (no JRE).
Check the Supported Locales document for the supported writing systems (languages) for each platform. The JRE does not support all writing systems on all platforms.
