Novell is seeking Beta Test Sites for it's upcoming SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 2

SUSE LINUX Enteprise Server Service Packs are scheduled updates of the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 product. Delivered approximately every six months, SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 Service Packs contains all the latest security patches, bug fixes and driver updates that have been released for the Linux 2.6 kernel and associated packages since August 2004, when SUSE LINUX Enteprise Server 9 was originally released.

In addition to these Linux updates, Service Pack 2 will also include new packages that provide additional functionality to SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9. Key new capabilities that are being evaluated for inclusion include*:

OCFS2: Support for the latest version of the Oracle Cluster File System software.
AHCI/SATA2/Intel's ICH7 SATA support: Storage devices that deliver greater speed, simpler upgrades and easier configuration.
Improved support for Gigabit Ethernet: Includes driver update for e1000.
NX / Execute Disable (XD bit) support for x86 - A security feature that marks memory areas as non-executable to prevent CPU exploits such as buffer overflows.
(Intel) Dual-Core CPU support: New Intel processors that offer two cores on a single die, making traditional mid-range benefits more affordable.
Support for large HP Superdome configurations: The HP Superdome are new high-end servers produced by Hewlett Packard.
RAS/LKCD improvements: Enhancements to the Linux Kernel Crash Dump analysis tool, used for post mortem crash analysis.
Autofs4: An update to Autofs3 that mounts filesystems on demand and expires them when idle for more than a certain length of time.
* Many of the features listed above are planned for SP2, however this is subject to change. Novell Inc. reserves the right to determine the inclusion of said features in Novell SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server Service Pack 2.

Through Novell's internal testing and this beta program, these fixes, patches, updates and enhancements will be rigorously tested and fully integrated into the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server environment.

By participating in this Beta program you will help Novell ensure that SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 team delivers the best possible Enterprise Linux Server offering.

Below are the requirements to be part of this beta, please read through them and if you feel you are interested follow the information below and sign-up for the beta selection.

Must be a current SUSE LINUX Enteprise Server 9 customer.
Test the product for a minimum of 5 to 10 hours a week.
Install the update each week when it is released.
Complete a fresh install of the product within 48 hours of receiving it.
Complete provided test cases.
Report on defects found during beta testing within one (1) business day.
Regress defects found with product refresh code.
Participate in weekly conference calls.
Answer survey questions, as needed.
Periodically report feedback to development on reliability, stability, and readiness of product for the marketplace.
Provide feedback regarding product documentation and help systems.
Participate in the Novell Beta Test Program under a formal Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Provide the required hardware to adequately test the product.

NOTE: Not all sites that respond will be selected for participation in the beta program. Your availability to commit time and energy, together with the platforms and test environment you will be using, will be major factors in determining whether your site is selected.
