Department Overview
Storage and Availability Management Group (SAMG) focuses on providing enterprise and large enterprise customers with storage and server management, data protection, and application performance management solutions across heterogeneous storage and server platforms. Key products in the Storage and Availability Management Group include Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas CommandCentral Storage and Veritas Cluster Server product lines. Each of these solutions is available across all major UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems, enabling IT organizations to reduce cost and complexity through standardization on storage and availability management solutions from Symantec.
Responsibilities
• This employee will cooperate with local/global internal team members, global product teams, Quality Assurance teams, and product managers to involve into task analysis, feature implementation, product maintenance and the final delivery of commitments on schedule.
• This employee will be focusing on the automation and release engineering tasks for SORT system features and relative tool development.
• He/she will make sure that the delivered work is well tested and make sure to deliver with high quality. He/she will obey the current process to design, develop and review for commitments.
• The employee also needs to join in the lifecycle of software process to do design review, code review, documentation review on product logic flow, and also be responsible for improving test process in test automation development if required.
Qualifications
• Should have proficient knowledge in SHELL/PERL or PHP language.
• Strong experience in development under one or multi UNIX platforms (AIX/Solaris/Linux/HP-UX).
• Strong experience in web development including HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Ajax/XML.
• Rich skills in SQL and database management.
• Have solid experience and sense/ideas on test automation.
• Should have good team work experience to cooperate with globally deployed sites. Must be cooperative in resolving conflicting issues.
• Must be action oriented, should have the capability to take challenging tasks with innovative solutions.
• Should have the capability to take actions under high pressure and deliver the commitments on time with high enthusiasm.
• Have quick learning skill and be able to adapt to new domains smoothly; could switch over between different tasks and be able to take multi tasks at the same time; Be capable of achieving results with little supervision.
• Have skilled communication on oral/hearing/handwriting in English/Chinese.
• Bachelor or higher degree is required.
• Storage software development experience is a plus.

Department Overview
The Security Technologies and Response (STAR) group is responsible for developing and maintaining the core security components that are used in Norton and Symantec desktop protection products. These technologies are at the forefront of the battle against today's threats. The STAR group is home to Symantec's security experts. The group is high-talent and high-energy, pushing new technologies that must achieve the best detection, best performance, and best user experience in the marketplace
Responsibilities
• The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineering Team in Symantec’s Security Technology and Response (STAR) organization is responsible for the quality of security content that is used on over 120 million desktops, servers and mobile devices around the world. This content includes detection and repair for security risks (e.g. worms, Trojans, viruses, adware, and spyware).
• The biggest risks to quality are false positives and performance degradation.
• As a member of the Clean Data Acquisition and Generation (CDAG) Team the candidate is responsible for creating, reviewing and improving systems and processes in order to acquire clean data from various sources.
• As the Mobile Device market is changing the way customers do business we need to ensure that we can adapt.
• The candidate will be involved with building systems designed to acquire, store and process software and information for the Mobile device Market.
Qualifications
• An understanding of high level language concepts (C++/Java)
• 5+ years experience with several scripting languages (PHP/Python/Ruby)
• Strong knowledge of database technologies such as MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server (usage and administration)
• Experience with multiple platforms (Unix and Windows), and particularly with virtualized systems (VMWare Workstation and ESX Server-preferably with ability to build automated systems in such enviroments)
• Experience in web development (MVC architectural pattern, version control systems, PHP frameworks, webservices-- Symfony is a keyword here)
• Analytical skills: Problem solving, ability to identify gaps in a process, and design and implement solutions
Other Required Attributes
• Interpersonal skills: Must be able to interact comfortably with members of the worldwide Response Team and employees in other departments in Symantec.
• Communication: The ability to communicate complex issues in a simple manner, both written and verbal. There is also an expectation that the candidate will have strong English speaking skills as the team is split across the globe.
• Mentor: The local team includes a number of junior personnel. The candidate will be expected to act as a mentor and aide in the development of the junior members of the team.
