MultiNICA和MultiNICB的不同 [复制链接]

我的理解是MultiNICB是可以支持IPMP,如果网卡做了IPMP,就要使用MultiNICB。

但问题是MultiNICA本身也具有IPMP的功能,为什么要搞个MultiNICB出来?

还有一点不同:When you use the MultiNICB agent, you must configure the NICs before putting them under the agent’s control. You must configure all the NICs in a single MultiNICB resource with the IP addresses that are in the same subnet.

但是还是不明白为啥要单独搞一个MultiNICB出来?

刚刚查了资料,

Comparison MultiNICA and MultiNICB

I.   MultiNCIB can work with Solaris IPMP. If UseMpathd is enabled, then the interface status is determined by IPMP, VCS relies on IPMP to failover IP address. The NICs should be plumbed and configured in IPMP before being managed by VCS, which means MultiNICB can only work on Solaris.

II.  MultiNICA does not depend on IPMP, which means it can also work on other OS (Linux and etc). NIC status is determined by VCS using base IP address. NIC can be unplumbed and base IP addresses are defined in main.cf. But Symantec suggests that fail over of MultiNICA could be much slower than MultiNICB. Test result shows that, for MultiNICA, base IP address fail over is very slow, this may because VCS tries to determine NIC status multiple times.

再次查了下我文档:

If you are not using Solaris in.mpathd, all MultiNICB resources on the system have the UseMpathd attribute set to 0 (default). You cannot run in.mpathd on this system.

If you are using Solaris in.mpathd, all MultiNICB resources on the system have the UseMpathd attribute set to 1.

所以非solaris的系统,应该也是可以用MultiNICB,只是UseMpathd要设置为0

■ Monitor a single NIC

The IPMultiNIC and MultiNICA agents:

Monitor single or multiple NICs

Check the backup NICs at fail over

Use the original base IP address when failing over

Provide slower failover compared to MultiNICB but can function with fewer IP addresses

Have only one active NIC at a time

The IPMultiNICB and MultiNICB agents:

Monitor single or multiple NICs

Check the backup NICs as soon as it comes up

Require a pre-assigned base IP address for each NIC

Do not fail over the original base IP address

Provide faster fail over compared to MultiNICA but require more IP addresses

Have more than one active NIC at a time
