Department Description:
The Solaris Naming Services team designs and delivers a modern enterprise naming environment working with technologies such as DNS, LDAP, NIS,and associated naming service technologies. These technologies are a fundamental part of an enterprise operating system and are used in virtually all aspects of systems operations. The responsibility of Test Engineering group is to ensure the high quality of the Solaris Naming Service by performing a series of testing activities required by product design, development processes and related Oracle quality standards.


Specific Responsibilities:

- Review technical specification and provide comments, create test plan according to the requirements.
- Design the test strategy on feature levels and generate the feature-level test strategy document.
- Design test cases, write and review test design specifications based on feature functional specifications, and develop test programs to implement and automate test cases to ensure complete test coverage for all areas of the product with a meticulous attention to details.
- Make sure developed test cases get integrated into the test gate and support the Solaris Pre-Integration Test and System Test groups to ensure Naming test suites are always runable and issue/problem free.
- Execute testing cases, analyze bug, results and write detailed team reports that accurately isolate the problem.
- Report defects through Oracle internal defect-tracking system, and help developers fix defects to improve product quality.
- Be able to communicate clearly and be able to interact with different functional groups: development, product management, sustaining, documentation.


Job Requirements:

The Test Engineering group is looking for a senior test engineer to develop, maintain, and run quality tests for naming service technologies to insure that Solaris and Solaris-based storage product are effective, efficient, robust, and adhere to the current standards.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.


Knowledge & skills requirement:

The candidate should have:

- BS/MS degree of CS or EE, or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4+ years of software engineering or related experience.
- Experience in Installing and administering UNIX operating systems
- Experience of operating system testing with emphasis in name service technologies such as LDAP, DNS, and NIS.
- Good communication skills in both Chinese and English
- Highly developed teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Strong software development skills include
* Strong C/C++ and UNIX shell programming skill
* Experience with Kernel debugging, core dump analysis


Preferred Skills And Knowledge

- Name service technoligies: DNS, LDAP, NIS, nsswitch and nscd is desired. Experience with Kerberos and other security technologies would be a plus.
- Experience with Unix Networking and user/account management
- Experience with Solaris or Linux.
