[HPUX] 请教：新手入门

What oramind said is quite well,  spending money on the training class is wasting your money, it\'s too expensive!!!!  But as to so many freshman who want to invote themselves into IT field, maybe some certifications is neccessary!! Frenkly, I want to study HP-UX very much, but I only have a a400 mini_computer, if I want to study more about it , the most directly way may be working at a big company. If I have a certification of HP-UX administrator, I think it will be helpful for my job hunting.  On the other hand, I\'m too lazy, if I take part in a training class, it will trive my to study hard. That\'s all .

[B]there are a few hpux admin books on itpub, i think.  just find them and download them and read them.  they are in english, but you will be better off reading english anyway, since i don\'t think there is a chinese version of hpux anyway.  maybe i am wrong.

learning hpux is still not a bad thing.  what i said about service guard is that you might not want to be get too involved with one product.  in case something happened to the company, not all your efforts are wasted.  chinese saying, stand two boats at the same time.  that\'s what i am doing.  nowadays, it\'s hard to say, if and when a company will go out of business.

as to hp and compaq merger, it\'s not completely settled yet.  it looks like the merger will go ahead, but there is a lawsuit going on.  lawsuit is not good, because even if the ceo wins eventually, business users won\'t like that.  so if they had a choice of choosing between hpux and solaris for example, they might choose solaris. this will translate to more jobs for solaris, and less for hpux.  this is just an example and it\'s in theory.  in practice, of course things can be different.  if a company has invested heavily in hpux, they will not change course right away.  but instability will be a concern over the long run.  we shall see.

so again, what this means for us end-users (yes, even admins are still considered end-users from the manufacturer\'s point of view), it\'s better to stand on two boats, or even three and more boats.  i myself, have used many flavors of os\'s and db servers, and really have no preference.  they are all good and are all bad.   using a fancy word, they all have their own idiosyncrasies.  i just follow the job

also, i don\'t spend money on training classes.  i\'d rather spend money on buying computer equipment.  more effective.
