ZFS has some performance features such as COW, multiple block sizing, pipelined I/O and intelligent prefetch etc. But I won\'t say that you go zfs for its performance. ZFS is for easy management and data integrity. ZFS will use a bit more system resources such as CPU time. The problem here is why filesystem becomes your performance bottleneck. Sure, filesystem uses buffer cache, but it shouldn\'t cause a big performance impact. You can actually bypass the buffer by using forcedirectio option when you mount your UFS filesystem. |
